The Run
Creeping around, back and forth
Moving weightless feet
On creaky floors
I listen and ask my first,
“Why?”
The pitter and patter of the strutting
As if she’s on a catwalk
Where she’s going, unknown
A maze of wandering
Amazed with wondering
She begins to run
Faster and faster
Waiting for no one
Announcing to everyone
Then it stops
Everything is quiet
The run is over.

This poem is about my cat running in the hallway in the middle of the night.
