Three Words
Goodbye, my love,
Is what I’d say,
As darkness comes
Unto the day.
And so I must leave,
With arms closed so tight.
For embracing another,
I couldn’t do right.
The ballad fades,
And the sonnet is muted.
These next lonely nights,
I shall spend secluded.
Until you come again,
My dear,
Those three words,
Will forever ring in my ear.
