Never
Never shall I forget that car ride home the afternoon of November 23, 2009
Never shall I forget the sounds of my screams; “Wake him up, Wake him up!”
Never shall I forget my girlish naïvity fleeting as I realized his ‘sleep’ was one never to be woken from
Never shall I forget Noah
My best friend
Partner in Crime
Thunder Buddy
My big brother
Never shall I forget the rain that made it feel as though God was weeping with me
Never shallI forget my first bitter taste of injustice
My new-found hatred for cancer
The monster that stole life away from Noah before he even got to really live
Leaving me empty and him forever young
Never shall I forget that heartache
That emptiness
Never shall I forget the shock from what happened
And the yearning for what never would
Never shall I forget being forced to face my own mortality
Realizing that I, too, would die
Never shall I forget the happiest years of my life
Cut far too short
Never shall I forget those big blue eyes, that sweet smile, and infectious laughter
Never shall I forget these things as long as I live
Never.
