Not your next trending hashtag
Walking alone at night, keys between my fingers.
Having to cover us so we’re not “asking for it.”
Scared, how they have so much power over us just because of a different anatomy or different pronouns.
Hearing the men whistle as we walk down the street, just trying to get from point A to point B.
Worried that if we say or even look at them the wrong way then one of us will be the next trending hashtag or posts about us will be shared through social media.
Don’t let any of us be the next one, don’t let them feed off of our vulnerability.
I will not allow myself to be the next trending hashtag.
