The moon comes
slicing the night
with its deep bright light
challenging the haughty sight

In a bright world
spreading happiness for all
we forget the whispering call
when our sun king falls

In comes the moon
With a confident stride
and its only pride
are the stars at its side

The moon marches up
And sits in the lagoon
as it crowns the loon
and fades too soon

when the moon dips
and light comes again
as the moon hides in vain
and the sun claims its reign.

The author's comments:

I love to write poetry and have published other poems. I like writing poems about the night, like this one. It has a theme of a monarchy. Most of my poems have themes, like culture or comparison. This one repeats words like "king" or "reign." While I love writing any kind of literature, I like writing poetry the best because you can write about two things at once; for example, you can write about nature and love at the same time. Poetry is a wonderful form of expression that I love to read and am honored to create.
