What Time Is It?
I fell asleep on the sofa,
dead tired and drooling,
three hours, four hours and more hours,
passed away quietly
with the lone sound of my snoring.
Then woke up with a big stretch,
and an even bigger yawn,
clueless about the time.
Excuse me! Could you please tell-
Is it dusk or dawn?
I reach for my phone,
to check the day, date and time.
But how convenient,
the battery had run out,
faster than a thief from a scene of crime.
It’s surprising,
How a few hours ago (I assume),
My phone exhibited half past noon
and a full battery on the 21st of June.
So, I decided to get up and see,
But stiffness got the better of me,
and seemed a little too eager,
to injure my knee.
Finally, after countless knocks and drops,
Both of me, and the objects around,
an exceptionally trippy and bruised me,
Stood in front of the digital clock and frowned.
All was fine till it showed half-past nine,
and I consoled myself announcing-
“This calls for an all- nighter,
of uninterrupted algebra,
and profound French pronouncing.”
Now that would have been a classic plan,
had I just slept a day,
but I missed a minute detail,
it was nine-thirty on June 23rd.
Wow Father Time that’s a nice way to betray!
