This Light World
As I walk arm-in-arm with my heart,
I ask her my anxious questions:
“How do you feel?”, “Are you okay?”, “Are you taken care of?”
My heart softly chuckles her reply,
but it’s too quiet to hear;
All I know is that she said something pleasant,
and I lose all my black fear.
My heart extends her loving, white hand,
She pulls me in her arms;
“Everything will be all right, dear,
Everything and all.”
I’m filled with rushing white relief,
Life goes on in this light world;
She smiles at me, beaming like the peaceful moon.
My heart and I try to keep our gentle steps aligned
So that we will not fall.

I wrote this piece to remind myself that the world always has light in it, even if only a little.
