Summer Nocturne, London
Time elongates
Like a reaching hand
Holding back the dark
That fights to descend.
All the lands below
Sit shrouded and silent;
Here life stirs onward
In the drowsy glow.
On the edge of the world,
Will the end ever come?
Through the fingers of time
The dark tumbles down,
Seizes bright stolen hours
And seals off the globe.
Night takes the prize:
A city plucked away,
Shadowed in memory,
Shut behind waves.
On the edge of the world,
Will the beginning come again?
