Our love was like a daisy blooming in frostbitten grass,

unexpected but beautiful.

Our love grew with the flowers in the field.

Blooming and blossoming.

Our love was the sound of hummingbirds.

Humming along as they collected nectar from the roses and herbs.

Our love was the buzzing bumblebee.

And As sweet as the honey it collected.

Our love was pure as a white rose,

Its purity taunts us now.

For as strong as our love grew,

The weeds surrounding it grew stronger.

What was once filled with the scent of Dewey roses in the morning,

Became cold, wilted flowers, blowing with the harsh winds.

And my love for you was the single sunflower standing

         alone

In the snow.

But your love,

Were the weeds that squeezed my sunflower.

Until the petals fell off and dried up.

Until all that was left of my love,

Were the seeds that sprouted

somewhere

new
