part 2: ignorance & insanity
how could you do this to me?
it’s been weeks since we last spoke
you left so abruptly
without warning
i wore my heart on my sleeve
just for you to do the thing i was most afraid of
how did you say all the things you said to me
to just leave?
was everything a lie with you?
i try to tell myself to not care about you
because i don’t think you ever cared about me
but i have to care about you
about what you did to me
it is impossible not to
then suddenly
you’re back
you’re back like nothing happened
we argue over what you did
you call me awful names
then you tell me you want to try again
and like a fool,
i take you back every time
now it feels like you have left and come back a hundred times
it doesn't get easier on me
each time you leave
yet i still expect a different outcome every time
but each time it’s always the same
i’m always the one that gets hurt
that is the definition of insanity

This is poem 2 out of 3. These poems represent the three stages of falling in love; Excitement, Ignorance & Insanity, and Acceptance. I was inspired to write these poems by my own personal experiences from love. Some may say that we are at too young of an age to fall in love, but that is simply not true. Love is a million different things. Whether it be love from a relationship, friend, or family member. Whether it be good or bad love. You can experience love at any age. In these three poems I am describing a toxic relationship, but the reader can interrupt them in any way that suits them. The possibilities are endless.
