The stove is warming

Warming up the house

On goes the sausage, it starts to sizzle

The clunking of the spoon hitting the bowl

As grandpa stirs the batter vigorously

Now grandpa is tasting the batter,

“Mmm, very sweet” he says

Then a whiff of the sweet smell hits me

It’s pancakes starting to fry

Browning before my eyes

Sausages now sizzling

Grease oozing out

Maple syrup beginning to warm

Bubbling as I watch

Twenty Minutes later it comes together

Sausage wrapped in pancakes

Covered in syrup

The sweet taste of pigs in a blanket

On a cold winter's morning

A taste like no other

In the warm kitchen with grandpa

Mmm never better
