I'm Fast Asleep, it's Midnight
If you love something, throw it away
Growing pains in my hands
Skin on skin
Teeth kissing teeth
I’ll count the miles chasing down the liquor
Our bodies are made of stolen things
Of broken antique store goods and farmers market jewelry
Empty bottles stacked on top of the fridge say all the things we don’t have the guts to
If you love someone, throw them away
I feel more like a stranger each time i come home to you
It wasn’t for love that i walked in the door
It was the guilt in my bones, waves crashing ashore
If you need something, throw it away
Sleeping in the gutter is the most comfortable bed
Will it be like in the movies?
When we walk down the aisle,
Will anyone know how you built a shrine behind my eyes?
The hillside has been asking me the same question for 5 summers
"Can this dream exist in reality, or will it turn to dust the second you touch?"
And in that deafening silence, I thought I heard you say…
"I loved you, now I must throw you away"

I count all the things I wish I could say on my fingers over and over again. Do you miss me now?
