glasses
you saw me in glasses
through my foggy car window
you saw me in a way
no one ever had
you liked me in glasses
and later
she sat between us
like that sheet of tempered glass
because i couldn’t stand to speak to you anymore
because you pretended like i didn’t exist
because there was too much said
and too much left unsaid
because we’d broken each other’s mirrors
because i took the shards of yours to make the first cut
and you took mine
glass lodged in our wrists
piercing reminders
of how painful fragility is
you saw her in glasses
you saw her in the way
i used to think
you only saw me
