Welcome to His To-Do List
"Welcome to his to-do list
Where every glory stayed!
You can see all his accomplishments
On the 'Done' wall of fame.
You'll find yourself much company
In this amazing place;
A poem? A dish? A song?
You'll find where you belong.
A new idea you are, I see,
Then seize this opportunity!
He's got a lot of potential
To make you quite influential.
Don't think you would believe me?
Just imagine the day:
When all the media cover him,
That's the time you'll shine.
Think you would be interested?
Sign your name right here.
There's no hassle and no pain,
It won't take you a year. Hopefully -
Thank you, now in you go.
He'll complete you in a while.
What, how long, you asked?
Ask the one beside you now."
"Sixteen years at least, no doubt,
Perhaps a half more," you heard a shout.
One day, when I was ticking off my to-do list, I figured it might be fun to write a poem from the perspective of an item. I imagine all the thoughts in my brain being required to sign a "contract" in order to be put into words, and how my "secretary" - likely my brain in this case - tries to lure an idea into being put onto my to-do list, even though I haven't done many of them in ages.
