Word Puzzles
The words aren't there,
The way they seem to be for you
Laid out for the next sentence
Like clothes for tomorrow
For me, I have to find them
Sift through the pile
It takes forever
It's exhausting
So I steal other people's words
So that they're all laid out
In the right order
And I steal my favorite words,
Listening to them
Over and over and over again
So that I'll know I have them right
But then I say them
These words that I've carefully picked
And you, You, You
You don't know what the words mean
Even after I spent so long
Sifting through pile after pile
Trying to find words that fit together
Building my million-piece puzzle
And you looked at that puzzle
And You said
That I'd bought the wrong one
