Stars on your Lips
I kiss the moon and taste stars on his tongue
Still I whisper him secrets as he speaks of the stars
I paint myself silver to catch his attention
But I don't shine like the stars, so I sit and listen
as I bathe in the universe
hoping his heart will change
But I am the morning sun,
just a star who gives light
to the moon, too soon
I die every night to let him breathe
but I shine so bright that he can't see
So he turns to the stars who are just like me
Only they're further away and less clingy
I've got a soul full of sunshine but all he can see
Is a universe of exploding stars
So maybe I'm divine,
So maybe I'm celestial
But every time I rise, I'm further from you
Waiting everyday
for our next eclipse,
I smile.
We are in the same sky,
at least.
and that brings me peace.
