Colorful poetry
RED
You painted me red,
Like the scorching desert sand,
All the lies that were said
Became fire in my chest.
You told me you didn’t know how,
Love was too serious of a vow.
You told me you were scared,
And that you’re saying this because you care.
It was clear,
Scared, you were not of love,
that’s not your fear,
To you, fidelity is simply too tough.
So red became love, lust, and tears.
BLACK
A sea of black,
The fishes swim forward,
But each one looks back,
For the path is too tortuous.
Once they were young,
Now they are on their own.
Once they wanted to be older,
And now they reach for youth to hold.
I am one of the fishes,
Sitting in my black robe,
The stage stays still hissing
“Senior: Gursimran Kaur.”
BLUE
You make me feel so blue.
But not in the way blue is gloom.
I heard love is not red,
It is blue like when you hit your bed.
It is blue like when you sleep after days of unrest,
It is as blue as the helping hand your friend lends.
Your love is calm,
Blue love beats red’s warmth.
