From My View
The way I see it
Life has many pages
Many verses
Many words
Many beginnings and ends
And too many characters to count
I am a character in this chapter
My life started in chapter 2007
But I’m not the only character in this chapter
So why
Why am I a character
Why am I in this story
Am I just here to be a background character
Say a few lines then never seen again
Or will I ever get my chance to speak
Maybe I’ll write verses for everyone’s story but my own
But what if…
I’m the main character
I’m the protagonist
I’m the author
I add more pages when I request
I write an ending of my accord
What others want might be addressed
But in the end, I use what's stored
In my brain
Maybe it's not meant to be…
What if what I’m writing doesn’t align with the original story?
What if what I write doesn’t make sense?
A black, trans masc., pansexual protagonist
Does that sound right to you?

Hello, My name is Kade. I am an African American, Transmasc, pansexual student. I am about to turn 15 this September. I started writing this poem because of an assignment in my Literature class. When I showed my teacher, she gave me many words of encouragement. Not only that, she gave me detail reasons why she loved my poem so much. That gave me the confidence to post it here.
