What Can I Do
If I could give you this world
This world I see
Where a person can have everything
That they want and that they need
If I could give you this world
All the beauty surrounding me
All the privileges I have
That I fear that you're lacking
I walk through this world every day
Hardly spare it a glance anymore
But can I hold it in my hands
Long enough to hand it over?
What can I do to save you?
How can I make your world
A little closer to the one I see
That I wish we all could own?
I fear that I can't grasp this world
And give it over to you
I fear I'll only hold it tight
I don't know what I can do

I know that the world I live in is a beautiful one, and that few people have all the blessings that I do. But what can I do—is there any way I can help to change that? I don't know, and that's why I wrote this poem.
