eighteen
There's a thousand and one faces in this crowd
I cannot seem to make any of them out
When the clock strikes 8:01 and it hits me
Oh god, I've done it again
Press snooze as many times as it takes for me to drag myself out of bed
There will come a time when God will decide
Whether you simply exist or get to live in the next life
There's a hundred and one faces in this crowd
I'm starting to make his out
There's an angel on my shoulder
The devil on the other
But they're starting to look alike
Different sides of the same coin
Flip it and bet on heads
Ask why I've lived my teens in ruins
Spiraling with a bang
Crashing like waves against unmovable mountains
Who am I?
The world swoops upon me like an eagle
Talons aimed to kill
They rip into my shoulders
Hoist me off the ground
Countdown from the only numbers I know
Eighteen, seventeen, sixteen, fifteen, fourteen, thirteen
There's a face in this crowd that I recognize
I realize we share the same eyes and the same mind
A vision of a future I never thought I'd make it to
