As it Reminds me of
Every sunset,
I can’t bear to look at the glittering stars,
As they remind of me of your once-shining eyes,
Every New Year,
I can’t bear to get through the day,
As they remind me how much years I’ve spent apart from you,
Every call,
I can’t bear to get my hopes up,
As I know that it isn’t you calling,
Every Christmas,
I can’t bear to look at the presents underneath the tree,
As I know that you wouldn’t be one of those glorious presents,
Every flower,
I can’t bear to glance at,
As I know that none of them would be from you.
All these thoughts and yet,
It isn’t a matter of what I can’t be with,
It’s a matter of who I can’t be with.
