Letter of a Dead Man
June 6, 1944
The cost of Normandy, France
Dear, those close to me
I, a young lad at the age of 21
For the country, I was told
“Fight”
This land has done for me what no one else could
I was ready for the battle ahead
I let my blood spill
For this country of mine
The clouds above
and the seas below
For this country, we rode
Our destination
Normandy, France
My comrades and I
We ran ahead
“Boom”
The sky above covered in red
The seas below panted the same
For this country, I died in the war
I fought for those I love
Lived for the days to come
Dear, A dead man
Dead by the first wave.
