Living The Dream
With another year comes another job with one or more sobs.
With a new life comes struggle and strife.
With another mere phase, we see another maze, an added haze.
Living as a teen is not a dream.
As we look into the future we can only see what others want us to be
We live in another world where we can be uncurled and see our life in a different way.
When we look for the help we need all we get is a half-empty plead
With the pain we speak we are only told we are weak.
Living as a teen is not a dream.
When there is a chance to take the leap all we see are the eyes on us
Discouraged from our dream all we see is a false reality.
When you think of those who looked for you in need you see those who were once free
When we look back to see what could be we see the reality that shouldn’t be.
When we see the leap we almost took, it almost appears unhooked.
When we see others without their dream, we can only feel the doubt and shame of our wondrous dream.
Living as a teen is not a dream.
