New Year in New York City
Multi color lights gleam from rooftops
Thick piles of dirty snow are packed on the sidewalks
People can be heard counting down from 10
In a square lit up by screens
In an apartment with the windows cracked open
Underground from the subway
From people walking past
The city was filled with such life
Yet everyone was living a different life
Until the end of the 10 second countdown
Everyone shouted in unison

A dream of mine has always been to experience New York City during the holidays/New Year and writing this poem let me to imagine what it might be like.
