Unjust

Long ago we discovered

Morality was no God’s strong suit

The Sea God was no exception

For when he laid eyes on the virgin priestess

Consent was all but a silly notion

So there right in the temple he had his way

Apparently deaf to her wails and pleas

Her dedication to her Goddess

Much more potent than any lust

Consequences came to be plenty

For when the deity of wisdom found out

She was all but for forgiveness

The naive girl tried to clear her name

But a mortal’s word is nothing to a God’s

So a curse was bore, unjust we must add

Under the falseful claim it was presented

No longer would she would be tempted to disgrace again

For when a man looked her in the eye

They would cease to become anything more than a statue

For millennia now the story has been repeated

Yet the crucial detail of her innocence never made the page

So her reputation continues to live on in ruins

How tragic the ending was

The ancient tale of the Gorgon Queen

I wrote this piece while in english class today and my inspiration came from my head bust lamp of Medusa that I had recently purchased!
