Portrait of the Unknown
A boy sits
He is unknown
To himself and to all others
His face clay and malleable, still unfinished
Yet, the golden forest welcomes
A girl sits
She is unwilling
Flighty locks down her dress
Her stern expression wards away
Yet, the golden forest welcomes
Their hands are clasped loosely
They sit in anxious perpetuity
Rotten vegetable flesh sits tainted at their ankles
as an eerie bramble thinly sprouts
Yet, the golden forest welcomes
A darkness is creeping in
Not yet seen, nor felt
A moment of connection to anchor
As thorns grow thick, a doorway closes slowly
Yet, the golden forest welcomes
