Sympathy for My Eyes
I have sympathy for my eyes
For my jaded gaze have bare witness tragedy
A tinted lens actively encapsulates my view
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they have been raised under cynicism
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they have known total uncontrolled wrath far too early
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they have known the woes and sorrow of loss
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they have known self-hatred before they have known self-love.
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they fill and drown with sorrows my heart was comsumed of
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they have seen cracks in the glass ceiling being filled before them
I have sympathy for my eyes, for they bare the gift of sight
Is it a gift?
