Moonflower
In the darkness I shine,
a ray of hope
against the dark night sky.
I’m dreaming alone
under the moon’s
elegant smile.
There
I conjure a sunlit world
awake with anticipation.
Where trumpet fanfares
beckon along
cobblestone streets.
Where listeners are joyful
because of me.
And I am never alone.
Night falls.
And it is I, reaching forlornly
for the sky.
At least the moon
is smiling at me.
Who else will keep her company?
The splendor that appears
from darkness…
is me.

In Floriography, the white moonflower is associated with dreams and encouragement, its trumpet-like bloom reaching full flower only in the dark of night.
