Merry Christmas Eve
I.
I'm standing in front of
my parents' mirror on
their bedroom door
in two and a half hours
it will be Christmas Eve
in the meantime
I'm trying to see my body
as something capable of
being loved
My hair is fluffy today
but my lips are chapped
and my stomach
looks more like a pouch
than flat
I focus on my fluffy hair,
and for a second
I think I see the girl you love
the girl you cal beautiful
and then the second passes
I am standing in front of
the mirror that hangs
on my parents' bedroom door
It will be Christmas Eve
in two and a half hours
and in the meantime,
I'm trying to understand
why you chose me
II.
When you're only a day old
a day lasts forever.
That is your entire life
But when you're
eight thousand
two hundred
and fifty days old
a day is only

(repeating)
percentages of your life
they pass so quickly
I wish time would s l o w d o w n
