[ I hadn't held that saxophone since seventh grade ]
I hadn't held that saxophone since seventh grade
I don't know what emotion was sleeping
into my lungs and sticking there like pneumonia
but I almost wanted to
cry.
it felt like a home I could no longer
return to. It felt like
summer, five years ago.

All I know is these hands have made mistakes before
All know is they can always make better ones
I hadn't touched that saxophone since seventh grade
I wanted to peel an orange on the kitchen floor
Remember when your biggest worry
was trying to get the peel off in
one piece? I'm scared to grow up but
I'm more scared I already have
