You missed the bus.

As we be began our

time together, as children

with memories of foam,

soaking in all our happiness,

radiating all our emotions,

I cherished those times.

I really did.

Older, we have become

but Saturdays are still the same,

when your Friday night

will always be with that

one childhood best friend.

Throughout the years, these streets

have lit up for us, year after year, class

after class. Your smiles have lit me up.

Your words have cheered me up.

If I had not done something in return,

I would feel as though the world closed

my mouth shut. I would feel as though

the winds blew my vocals akin, where

I wish no better for me when my time

has come—in just one more year.

But, haven’t you noticed that our

spring still shines as gallantly as does

our summer. Once, the winter darkness

fades, there lies a spearmint of annual

rejuvenation.

It’s all the same every year. You ask them

to come back for the last time, and they promise

that they’ll see you when the see you, and

otherwise this last conversation is what’s ultimately

due. It’s all the same every year.

Congratulations to the Class of 2023.

I wish you all the greatest times of your lives

from this day forward.
