A Good Game
Halfway! Blared the giant horn.
2 to 2, tied as both teams were,
The tension in the ring felt like a thorn.
And everything transformed into a blur.
I was on the ice, skating
Smack! There zoomed the puck.
I raced through the ring, panting
As cold as it was, I kept my hands on the stick.
Pass! Pass! Pass it to me!
I got the puck and slammed it in.
Goal for red! Yelled the referee.
It was a victory, our greatest win.
We proudly shook hands with the other team,
Not a single spark of disrespect between us
We had won against the best--our dream
We celebrated our triumph as we left on the bus
