A Father Who Was Once Alone
For many years I wondered why you left
The answer was with me all along
Right in front of me even.
A horrible woman, who I thought was loving
Yet it’s just what I knew
I thought getting hit, yelled at, and made fun of by
my own mother was normal.
I was wrong.
She was the reason you left,
And yet I thought it was myself.
At a young age, that woman told me I should have never been born
That you and her were too young to care for a kid.
She wanted me gone.
And blamed your leaving on me.
So I did what I knew
I listened to her,
Believed her
Because her words were the only thing
I could hear.
And for many countless dark nights,
I waited,
I waited for you,
Or anyone to help me
And then I went from home to home
Still not finding your sunlight.
Then, I gave up.
I thought it was the end.
But, I managed to make my own sunlight
With the help of two amazing people.
I found a way to save myself,
And years later,
I finally found you.
I hoped you would reply to that long paragraph of me
hoping you were the right person I was looking for.
And the reply you gave me, sent me to tears.
Thanks to that hope,
I was able to reach out for anyone to grab hold.
By finding a new family,
And finding my way back to you.
You were my sun
My knight in shining armor
And I was the princess.
A father figure I sadly never had.
But, now I do.
(Thank you for giving me hope in the future)
To my long lost father

I waited 15 years to finally talk to my real father again. After going through foster care and abusive homes. I finally found the right stop. They supported me and once I was able to go on social media, I immediately looked for him.
