Breathtaking
A peaceful morning in Montana.
Where the sky is as blue as a sapphire
and the golden sun is warming our skin with its soft touch.
It shines down, welcoming me with its warmth.
It smells like a cool ocean breeze
where it swirls and twirls my hair.
I can almost taste the run off water
seeping from the snow left on the white caps.
The mountains sound like a twinkle of a shooting star in the night sky,
so far from the city- no one else can hear them.
The sight takes my breath away, overwhelmed by the beauty in front of me.
I start the climb.
My nerves grow deeper inside as the long trek awaits,
my breath gets shorter as the altitude mocks me.
The birds soar over me as I start my ascension.
Sweat drops to the ground the higher I climb.
Water sounds like a savior,
there to quench my thirst.
Exhaustion creeps in,
my mind tells me I can’t.
Doubt settles in, but I know I can proceed.
