You found me
I saw how you drew me from all those months ago
Up until now,
And even back then below a hoodie I thought was hiding
You could see straight through all of my clothing.
Through to my body and in the way
All of my curves work so harmoniously
And the way my body bends and molds.
From the mornings I wouldn’t eat,
To the few when I did,
You gazed into whatever parts of me you could find.
And by the accidental lift of the shirt,
And the first day I didn’t wear a sagging black shadow over my body,
You found not the mask I gave you,
But instead just me.
And that me you continued to see,
Though convincing me that I was worthy of food,
And food was worthy of me,
And a pillow grew for you to rest your head on.
From a scrawny kid to something worthwhile,
I’m ecstatic you invested that precious time of yours
Into me.
And on days when
The mirror was uglier than me
You would prove to me that no matter how dirty that mirror could be,
My reflection was always worth seeing.

Thank you for looking deeper than what I gave you. You’d stare at me and look away when I’d meet your eyes, over a year ago. Now you can look at me all you want.
