We May Depart Under This Nightfall
Your last breath lingered.
The sultry fermented rose in the backyard
Erected to the sun,
Roots decomposing,
Dried dew glued to the stem.
In the tempestuous sea I sought
for your canoe.
Once I peeked at your place,
I waited
until the murk eroded my arms; handcuffed
I barked, and echoes replied.
I paid my second visit in spring
When the faded blossom promised to bring you back.
Soon as whites were gone,
I pined for the phase of pink and you.
I shut the door this time and hid in my room,
Twilight dropped by every corner,
Perched on my right shoulder.
Cried.
Darkness no longer soothes, rather
Venom in veins nourish me.
Your corpse turns purple and lathers
My bitten body.
Your tonic fangs leave for once and at last
an autograph on my skin, eternally.

Departing is always one of the harshest moments in our lives. I chose to depict the mental torture of a person after the death of their significant others.
