The Pool's Thoughts

I am a pool.

I hear,

Children laughing,

The splashing as they plunge

Into my basin of water.

The community is a sheet of stained glass,

Beautiful, but easy to break.

It smells of chlorine.

The lights shine across my surface

Blinding, but only before you jump

Into my depths.

I can taste the chlorine, the salt.

I can see the people, leaping into me

Swimming either hard and fast,

Or slow, and steady.

The people’s words cut through the air like

Scissors.

I can see people, I can see friendships.

And yet, I am annoyed, for all the happiness,

There will always be anger or hate.

For this, I will not forgive the people

But for all things bad, there must be something,

Good.

Some would say that I am too judgemental

But I think I am just honest,

As I have seen so much in my life.

And despite the hardships, the people still come here

For the amicable parts

For the moments of community

For this, they are,

Admirable.

I'm Vivian, I wrote this poem, and I tried to make it from my perspective to personify it. I enjoyed writing it.
