I Wish I Could See Again -
I wish I could see the little girl I once saw,
With the face bear, and crayons to draw,
Rather than masks of makeup
Expressing innocence in colors so bright.
The little girl with brown eyes,
And brown curly hair
With a mild red glare,
Never had to worry about a stare or snare.
No worries then, just laughter and cheer,
Innocence pure, no hint of fear
A little sunbeam brightens up the room,
With giggles and smiles that could chase away the gloom.
I wish I could see the innocence in her eyes
A little girl, unknown to the world outside.
That is where reality hides,
And her imagination abides.
In her world, no big problems, just giggles and fun.
Innocence ruling, life had just begun
A little girl, painting happiness all the time.
Her eyes had dreams, wide and so grand,
I wish to see her, take a stand.
Hear her laughter, so carefree and light,
Before things got heavy, and days turned to night.
I wish to see that little girl once more,
Building that sand castle, on the seashore.
And dreams to explore,
Wondering what her future may have in store.
I wish I could see that little girl again once more,
And her innocence I did adore.
A reflection in the mirror, memories to see
The little girl’s journey now intertwined with me.
