Beautiful as I am
I look in the mirror everyday
I look
At the height
At the weight
At the curves
I go outside and I look
I compare
I observe
She’s so much prettier than me
Wow they’re so cool
I wish I had hair like that
I’m just not enough-
WAIT A MINUTE!
Is this what we’re about!?
I thought we were:
Calm
Kind
Cool
Confident!
So I look in the mirror everyday
I look
I look at the smile
The hair
The curves!
I look at my beauty!
I stare down my imperfections
And my impurities
It makes me, me!
So remember to be:
Strong!
Smart!
Independent
And most of all be:
Beautiful as you are!

A slam poem about choosing to accept yourself as you are instead of worrying about what other people have to say. Embodying confidence and learning how to love yourself.
