I looked and saw the kid jumping up and down

from joy at the sight of rain.

I was surprised to see him smile.

It was such an incredible sight

to see the trees growing from the ash

and the plants and veggies

rising from the graveyard of a forest.

I looked as the kid started to run at the tree,

hugging and embracing it.

I then dropped my bag and walked up to the tree.

It looked like something majestic with its purple aura

surrounding it, and its blue leaves surrounding the

tree itself encompassing it in a beautiful sphere.

Suddenly, the earth started shaking, and the tree

lifted a piece of the surface of the ground

with us on its way into the air.

We were higher than all the trees, and we lay down.

I loved it all.

It was so peaceful

compared to the rest of the world, burning

from the volcanoes.

The sky had cleared up, and we had a great view

on the city, which was now overgrown with plants

and leaves intertwining into the skyscrapers.

It was a glorious day for nature.

My name is Artem Kushch and I live in Wellesley and some of my work has been previously published in a magazine called stone soup.

This is a little poem talking about how climate change could turn back from a nightmare.
