their planet
the turtle is choking, a bee prays for a home,
and a flower wilts in the sudden heat,
their ancestors were given life,
but they were given horrific illness,
a girl is starving, and the disease is a blight on a village,
the smoky skyline casts a shadow,
but they continue, there is no stop.
a planet is boiling
and even nature gives way,
they take no notice.
decimation. displeasure. devastation.
we don’t own this planet,
and our hearts throb for what we’ve done,
but they do not bleed.
