the eyes that now gaze up see lights that did last
prophetic and holy, ancient and bright
you’ve known of us long, you’ve known of our sight
we spell out disaster, fortune, and fame
celestial bodies that you love to blame
you paint us as pictures, you name us in song
you capture our image and whine when it’s wrong
as long as we’ve been here, we’ve seen you grow old
so we embrace your mythos, the stories you’ve told
