Shadows Only Go So Far
My shadow wears
a mask of dark, covering my
bright,
bright
light
a chameleon cloak, I blend into a room
a soundproof vest to
cover my drumming heart
Her hair is like fire, but covered by an inky hat
see the bonfires set to burn trees of no use
put out with buckets of water
My shadow is a young girl, it's me
but it does not reflect the inside
the rays of the sun do not stretch far enough to reflect me
within a shadow
