Thousand doors
I’m spinning
in a room
with a thousand doors,
each opening,
a possibility to grow.
The décor is all glory,
hiding dust beneath.
I’m not locked.
Not caged.
And yet,
something clamps around my chest,
choking me into the dark.
Looking around,
nothing is right.
Expectations claw me at night,
sharp as nails.
Oh! my guiding star,
you are useless.
You need sunshine,
whereas I thrive in night.
Can’t I have my happy ending
without life throwing me deep
into the sea,
and command me
to misery?
I will resist.
Harder.
Deeper.
And continue.
