Violently Violet
Creeping weeds twist around
The little flower
The precious flower
Nature’s treasure
Soft petals
So violently violet
That they shock the eye
The soft daisy is so much more
Appealing
The weeds come faster
Choking the little flower
The gardener doesn’t see
For she’s tending to the daisies
And the violent violet
The little flower in search
Of a defense
Is tangled up into the weed
No longer separate plants
But a whole
That has no hope for holy
Sacraments
Or a watering
Can
Can you hear its cries?
Of course not
Flowers don’t speak
Flowers don’t speak
But they can crumble
Can you hear it crumble?
Can you crumble?
The violent violet
Crumbles to the ground
Defeated by the weed
And sweet daisies
The gardener is distraught
With shame and
Relief that drops from her
Eyes washing out the shadows
For a moment
The brilliant sun plays across
The little flower and her
Dead fingers
So violently violet
So raw and broken
