Candidate Brew MAG
womyn
 white, tight
 business suits
 men
 black, slacked
 brooks brothers
 clumsily
 crumpled –
 sprawled across my living room
 in a candidate brew's induced
 slumber

 opened bottle caps
 clunk, clunk, cranked
 into odd shapes
 scattered in the living room
 juxtapose
 conservative
 values
 of my parents'
 book club
 party

 I hope the
 rough edges
 of metal –
 rusted, cracked, once
 alcohol hedges –
 leave a mark
 on the cherry oak floorboards

 dear lord –
 my family is a bunch
 of Republicans!
