The Skyline
The skyline of the city rises and falls,
 Up, down, up, down, down
 We're missing one up,
 No, two

 "Mommy, where'd the ups go?"
 They're missing,
Gone as if they were never there

All around me I hear shouts,
 screams,
Panic sits heavy in the air,
but I can't tear my eyes away
 from the skyline

 Sirens blare,
 babies cry,
 children collapse in hysterics,
 the city is a mess

No one can say what happened,
only that this was no accident

 The news crews are there,
 the firemen too,
 and the police officers
 from what I hear

And in the midst of all this chaos,
 I am still

I am still as I let tears wash down my face,
 and I cry,
 For New York,
 For America,
 For the skyline
