All in Transit
Friends for now,
‘Til paths divide
But as for now,
I’m by your side
I am the transitionist
My purpose, to serve you
I’m here as long as you need me,
But gone the moment you’re through
While my friendship sounds
Fleeting, false and untrue
When one must move on,
It’s not me, it’s you
I’m put in your life
From point A to point B
Once you have reached that end
You’ll soon see
You need me now,
I’m created this way
But as the new you,
You’ll find no need to stay
I’m the one you’ll remember,
The one who was there
Just between you and me,
Those burdens we’d bear
I won’t try to stop you
Or call out your name,
Because keeping you here
Is just causing you pain
When your transition’s complete
From the old you to new,
Our paths will divide
Just enough to be through
But with the few who stay,
The rare and fair few
Friendship shines brighter
Than the suns highest hue
But it’s not up to us,
We’re not left to choose
For we are just actors
Following His cues.
