Rain and Hope
During a rainstorm,
The world looks brighter and greener
Though there are clouds covering the sky.
And everything looks newer and fresher,
And seems to have a new kind of spirit,
Burning from within.
The gentle, melodious sound of the rain falling cleanses our ears,
Emptying from them all the things we wish we hadn’t heard,
And replaces it with the sounds we long for,
And reminds us of the songs our mothers sang to us long ago,
And that wordless song of hope.
And the raindrops purge our souls of the unclean, the sinful,
And places in our hearts the hope for tomorrow,
The hope that maybe tomorrow will be better,
That we will boldly meet it.
Hearts soar, smiles brighten,
As the rain falls around us,
Quietly, unpretentious,
Simply doing its job to renew our hearts,
And restore our minds,
With hope.
