This Silver Night
Silver spoons clank up and down
My narrow waistband revels
The world is watching
Glowing, smiling
I can see past those folded napkins
Lovely bass and piano
It’s a rose of a night
They draw me in,
And the waiters are so kind,
I’m so tempted
Fine wine?
Of course, my dear
It’s a benevolent,
Tender kind of way
To be here right now.
Almost like the shining stars
It’s a wonder, and please
World, don’t tear me away
Just yet,
Not just yet.
Let love wrinkle you up
And charming smiles get the most of you
You look lovely
Dashing, grinning fondly
Between bites
It’s such a sweet breeze
Tonight, tonight
Open up and let the wrinkles shine
The different wrinkles
Show me you,
For yourself
Keep it this way
Though the rose and fine wine make it better
Just the way you look tonight
Has got me glowing,
Smiling,
And the World is slow dancing with the Moon
While I laugh at your collared grin
And my wrinkles shine through on this silver night.
